Petersfield Town 3 New Milton Town 1: LAST Tuesday night Petersfield picked up another valuable three points with victory against fellow mid-table side New Milton Town.

The Rams were keen to build on the previous Saturday’s success but suffered an early set back when Ericson Mukambi gave the visitors a third minute lead.

The home side took a while to settle but, as the match progressed, they gained the upper hand, with their best chances falling to Harry Tremlett and Harry Giles.

After the break, the Rams put the visitors under ever increasing pressure and in the 58th minute Will Essai went on a mazy run past several defenders and unleashed a shot that went just over the bar.

By this stage New Milton were trying to hold on to what they had, with most of their players behind the ball, and it looked like it might be one of those nights for Petersfield but in the 66th minute they deservedly drew level through Tremlett’s header.

They did not have to wait long to go ahead, as in the 72nd minute substitute Callum Coker headed home a Josh Sheehan cross. New Milton tried to go back into offensive mode but the home defence were in no mood to allow them back into the game.

Nevertheless, there was a sigh of relief around the ground when Coker added a third for the Rams with a close range shot in the first minute of additional time.
