Petersfield Town 2 Totton & Eling 0: THE RAMS are almost mathematically safe after a convincing win against bottom side Totton and Eling at Love Lane on Saturday afternoon.

The home side were boosted before the match by the return of key defender Jordan Geddes, who partnered Kris Stevens in the heart of the defence.

The Rams created the first chance when Gari Judd played a good ball along the area to release Olly Kershaw, who smashed his shot narrowly wide.

Petersfield’s Matt Rowland was a constant threat and his shot was heading in until Daniel Head blocked it on the line.

The home side took the lead in the 30th minute. Stevens’ long ball found Rowland, and he beat the keeper to the ball and dispatched his finish past two defenders on the line.

Totton and Eling started the second half well and nearly equalised when a loose ball fell to Luca Cordeddu, but his shot was stopped by a spectacular block on the line.

The Rams had a good chance to double their lead when a free kick was floated towards the back post to Judd. He nodded the ball back into the area but Harry Tremlett’s close-range volley went over the bar.

Petersfield’s second goal arrived after some poor defending by Brad Stacey in the 89th minute. A long ball forward should have easily been dealt with by Stacey, but his header fell to Rowland. He collected the ball and slotted it past the keeper to seal the three points for the Rams.
