PETERSFIELD Town’s search for silverware may be over for this season but their hunger to win more trophies is not diminished.
Monday night’s defeat in the Portsmouth Senior Cup at the hands of National League South side Gosport Borough, ended the Rams’ hopes of winning any competitions this season.
In the two previous seasons Petersfield had won two major trophies in each campaign so it will feel strange to the Love Lane officials who won’t have to make room for any cups in the trophy cabinet after this campaign.
However, Petersfield Town chairman Graeme Moir is confident this is only a temporary blip and normal silverware winning service will be resumed soon.
“In some respects it was always unlikely that we would be able to extend our trophy-winning run during this season.
“We have had some tough draws in all of the county cup competitions this season and with our step up in status that makes teams even more keen to beat us.
“We have also had to cope with the step up to Southern League football, which has proven to be a massive step up for the club in many ways.
“Having got through the league season and come through everything that has been thrown at us both on and off the pitch will be a huge achievement in itself.
“At the end of the season we will regroup and make plans for the next campaign and I?am certain we have the means to win more trophies.”
