PETERSFIELD Town manager Mark Summerhill was delighted with his side after they virtually secured their safety with a 2-0 win against Totton and Eling.
Matt Rowland’s double gave the Rams the three points at Love Lane on Saturday.
Petersfield now sit in 13th place in Division 1 of the Sydenhams Wessex League with three games remaining this season.
“We were absolutely brilliant and everything went to plan,” said Summerhill.
“It was a really good Petersfield performance, and nobody could have argued if we were 3-0 up at half time. We had a lot of good chances in the first half, but it was only 1-0.
“All the time it was 1-0 it was never totally comfortable, but Totton had only one chance which Olly Kershaw cleared off the line.
“We left it late to get the second, but we were dominant in the second half and it was a regulation 2-0 win.”
Rowland now has three goals in two games after returning from a two-match ban, and Summerhill was full of praise for his match-winner and fellow Rams striker Gari Judd.
“Matt Rowland was a constant thorn in Totton’s side,” said Summerhill.
“He has a superb partnership with Gari Judd, and they are a typical big man and little man partnership.
“Matt deservedly gets a lot of credit, but there is also a lot to Gari’s game.
“You can play the ball into Gari’s feet, and he’s deceptively quick and wins a lot of flick-ons.”
