HORNDEAN enjoyed a successful week with two wins in two cup competitions.
The Deans won a penalty shoot-out at Lymington Town last Tuesday night after a 2-2 draw in the first round of the Hampshire Senior Cup. Charlie Willett gave the hosts the lead in the 47th minute, and Zak Pickett then made it 2-0 on 59 minutes.
Harry Jackson pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 73rd minute, before equalising for the Five Heads Park outfit in stoppage time.
The Deans then won 5-4 on penalties.
Horndean also progressed in the First Qualifying Round of The Buildbase FA Vase with a 4-3 win after extra time at home to Andover Town on Saturday afternoon.
Zach Glasspool’s brace gave the visitors a 2-0 lead at half time, but Miles Everett pulled a goal back in the second half before Jack Maloney’s equaliser made it 2-2 and took the tie to extra time.
Glasspool completed his hat-trick in extra time to make it 3-2 to Andover, but Jackson equalised before Lee Tigwell’s penalty made it 4-3 to the Five Heads Park outfit.
