PETERSFIELD Town are heading towards some records they really don’t want after their latest mauling in the Wessex League.
The Rams were thrashed 8-1 at Lymington Town on Saturday, taking them past the 100 goals conceded mark for the season so far.
Petersfield have now conceded 103 goals in the 23 league games they have played to date.
The overall total for the season climbs to 135 goals when you add the 32 goals conceded in eight cup matches the struggling team have played in as well.
The latest heavy defeat suffered last weekend has moved the Rams into territory they don’t want be in as no side has conceded as many goals as they have at this stage in the recent history of the Wessex League.
Comparing their goals conceded tally at December 10 to previous seasons, the closest any other side has got to topping the 100 mark was Fawley last season.
They had let in 77 goals from 24 league matches. The next closest figure was the 70 Christchurch conceded in their first 22 games played in the 2014-15 Premier Division campaign.
Last season Fawley went on to concede a total of 124 league goals but Christchurch didn’t go on to have the worst record in 2014-15 – Bournemouth conceded 126 goals that season.
The Premier Division team with the worst goals conceded total in recent seasons was Downton in 2007-08 with a total of 177 goals.
