IT WAS always going to happen at some stage but of all the Saturdays mother nature picked to wipe out the football fixtures it had to be this one.

Petersfield Town not only had to cancel Saturday’s league game against Potters Bar Town at Love Lane due to a waterlogged pitch, but they also had to cancel the special luncheon they had arranged in memory of one of their former players.

Former Ram Darren Chant was killed while serving in Afghanistan and Petersfield hold a special lunch in his memory every year. Saturday’s event had to be cancelled once the game was called off but club officials are hoping to rearrange it.
