THE CURRENT run of bad weather is threatening to make Petersfield Town’s tough run-in to the end of the season even tougher.

Saturday’s home game against Egham Town had to be postponed as heavy rain last Friday meant the Love Lane playing surface was waterlogged.

The Rams have only played one home game in Division 1 Central of the Southern League since December 17, with three scheduled home fixtures having to be called off since the last game played at home on January 2.

With only one game played home or away in the last month, John Robson’s side are facing a schedule of Saturday and midweek matches for the next month from February 18.

Chairman Graeme Moir said:?“We can’t win at the moment – either our pitch is waterlogged or the temperature drops and everything freezes up. Most of our midweeks were clear until this current spell of wet weather has caused multiple postponements.

“It’s no surprise to see more and more clubs opting for 3G or 4G surfaces – it guarantees your game will be on and it is certainly something we are considering for the future at Love Lane.”

The Rams head to leaders Royston Town on Saturday before hosting Bedford Town the following weekend.

Two days after that game Petersfield are away to Beaconsfield SYCOB before they have a run of four matches in a row starting towards the end of this month.
