THEY have a fearsome-sounding nickname and a proud FA?Cup record but that doesn’t mean Petersfield Town have anything to be scared about when Weymouth visit Love Lane.
Manager Ian Saunders is just delighted his side are able to grace the same pitch as a team which has the pedigree and reputation which the Dorset side enjoys.
And he believes an upset in the FA?Cup will be down to his players and whether they can work the gremlins out of their game.
“To be playing in the FA?Cup against a side like Weymouth is fantastic for a club like ours – we only dreamt about this kind of thing until the last year or so.
“It’s a great opportunity for us to go up against a good side and see how we fare.
“Our problem for much of the season has been putting the ball in the net and making sure we keep it out at the other end. Those frustrations surfaced again at Chalfont on Saturday. We know when we get things right that we are going to climb the table.
“At the moment, we need to defend better as a team to stop giving goals away at one end and make sure we get a little bit sharper in the other box.
“It might just be our day if this comes together on Saturday and that would give us a famous victory.”
Saunders is hoping for a big turnout from the Rams’ faithful. He added: “Weymouth are likely to bring a decent following with them so we will need our support.”
