Petersfield Town 1 Brockenhurst 6: A WOEFUL performance by Petersfield saw them well beaten in this Wessex Premier Division clash last Tuesday night.

The Rams found themselves 4-0 down midway through the first half and 5-0 down by half time. It was a performance which had manager Mark Summerhill issuing an apology afterwards such was his unhappiness at what he had witnessed from his team.

The visitors opened the scoring with a header from close range in the first half and closed it with a fierce shot which flew in from 30 yards out.

Brockenhurst got their sixth goal in the opening exchanges of the second half after Petersfield failed to clear their lines and the ball was eventually bundled home from close range.

The visitors’ scorers on the night were Will Tickle (2), Mitch Speechley-Price, Matt Sheedy, Cass Newton and Matt Vokes.

There was some cheer midway through the half for the home fans as Billy Connor won his side a penalty when we was brought down after bursting into the box. Luke Kendall made no mistake with his spot kick.

Petersfield couldn’t force their way any further back into the game after this goal and the visitors remained in control of proceedings until the final whistle.

The Rams remain anchored to the bottom of the Wessex Premier Division table and they now have only eight games remaining to try and pull themselves away from last place.
