Petersfield under-eight Hurricanes v Fleet under-eight Falcons: PETERSFIELD under-eight Hurricanes entered the Christmas break in fine style by clipping the wings of Fleet under-eight Falcons on Saturday.

Alex Garlant led the way with a four-goal salvo, including a second-hat-trick of the season inside the first quarter of play.

Garlant opened the scoring at the second attempt after his initial shot was saved, doubled his and the Hurricanes’ tally moments later with a deft chip over the keeper with his weaker left foot, and completed his treble by ghosting past three players before dispatching a firm, low shot into the bottom corner.

Garlant then squeezed the ball inside the goalkeeper’s near post in the final quarter to complete his four-goal haul.

Top scorer Taylor Pearce helped himself to a couple of goals, picking up a loose ball, racing past his marker and sending a firm right-footed shot past the goalkeeper for his opener, before latching onto a through ball moments later and repeating the dose with an unstoppable shot.

Luca Baragan also scored, reacting quickest after his initial shot had been blocked by the busy visiting goalkeeper.
