The 31st Liphook Scratch Cup was held at Liphook Golf Club.
The popular 36-hole scratch event in the England Golf women’s amateur fixture list attracted a top-class field from all over the country.
This year’s winner was 14-year-old Annabel Peaford from Walton Heath, who played off a handicap of five.
On her second visit to Liphook Peaford took the honours with rounds of 76 and 72 for a total of 148.
Hot on her heels came her twin sister Emily – who played off a handicap of three – with rounds of 78 and 74 for a total of 152 on countback.
The Peaford twins were hotly pursued by Raffi Dyer from Hayling Island, who is a Liphook member and played off a handicap of two.
Dyer hit rounds of 73 and 79 for a total of 152.
The fourth scratch prize went to Emily McBurney from Royal Liverpool, who played off a handicap of two and produced rounds of 78 and 75 for a total of 153.
The fifth scratch prize went to Connie Packer from Bishop’s Stortford, who played off a handicap of one and produced rounds of 76 and 78 for a total of 154.
The field of 59 had a very trying time.
The weather conspired against low scoring and faster play – testing the patience of everyone involved in this year’s Liphook Scratch Cup.
The competitors were very complimentary about the condition of the golf course, which held up all day in the face of relentless rain.
The event continues to attract the best players from all over the UK.
