CORHAMPTON’S Scott Gregory believes he may have found the way to cope with the pressure of expectation.
He has enlisted the support of a friend who is currently working towards a master’s degree in psychology to help him cope better with the pressures of trying to regularly beat the top 120 golfers in Europe. Gregory admitted he allowed his call-up into the England set-up last year to affect his game, following his meteoric rise in 2014 when he reached the English Amateur final at Saunton, in Devon.
Gregory said: “I raised my expectations so high that I was setting outcome goals for tournaments – not just going out there and playing.
“So I’ve done a lot of work this winter on my goal-setting and general mental state with a friend of mine, who is studying for his master’s degree in psychology. We have done some great work and set some real good goals up to five years from now.”
