CORHAMPTON’S Scott Gregory has made the effort to see his coach, Simon Andrews, every week during the winter.
“We try and meet for practice sessions so we keep on top of the swing and this is by far the best I have swung the club,” said Gregory.
“As well as those regular sessions, I have hit a lot of structured golf balls at Portsmouth Golf Centre, which has meant I have been able to really get the changed set of clubs going into the season rather than them being in progress like in the past.
“Finally, I have worked harder than ever before on my fitness, really focussing hard on what can make me a better golfer and this makes me feel better in tournament play. I definitely have a physical advantage over a lot of players.”
Gregory is now preparing for the opening 72-hole event of the domestic season when the Selborne Salver is played at Blackmoor Golf Club, on Saturday, April 16, followed by the trip up to Justin Rose’s home course North Hants, for the Hampshire Hog, 24 hours later.
As well as the two prestigious trophies on offer, the best aggregate score over the weekend will earn the winner the Hampshire Salver.
