PETERSFIELD Golf Club’s senior section have been keeping themselves busy.
On Thursday, September 17, 30 seniors and their guests played in the seniors’ invitation day, where their combined scores counted in a stableford competition from the yellow tees.
The results of the seniors’ invitation day were as follows: Terry Roachand and Roy Rinlay (Rowlands Castle) were first with 72 points, David Kidd and Brian Rodgers (Cowdray Park) were second with 68 points, and Marshall Smith and Colin Newton (Bramshaw) were third with 68 points.
The best front nine was played by Rob Pardy and Wyn Davies (Liphook) 40 points, and the best back nine was played by Peter Gaunt and Martin Wade (Hindhead) 35 points, on countback. The nearest to the pin on the 13th green was David Kidd, and the nearest to the pin with the second shot on the 18th green was Barry Lillywhite (Petersfield). The day was organised by Barry Lucas, along with a team of helpers.
On Thursday, September 24, 45 seniors entered the Morgan Cup, which was a strokeplay competition from the yellow tees.
The results of the Morgan Cup were as follows: David Dunglinson was first on countback with a net score of 69, John Wardsmith was second on countback with a net score of 69, and Clifford Smith was third with a net score of 71.
