Rowlands Castle team wins Petersfield Ladies’ open

THE LADIES of Petersfield Golf Club held their ladies’ open and managed to play mainly in the dry.

Eighty-eight ladies took part from various clubs around the region, and the winners were a team from Rowlands Castle Golf Club with a score of 85 points. The team consisted of Christine Richardson, Carol Taylor and Sue Slight, with a Petersfield lady, Mary Ellam, showing them the way around the course.

In second place with 85 points were Monica Dixon, Frances Jones and Angela Williams from Hayling Golf Club, and Di Brooks from Petersfield.

In third place with 82 points were Jan Ostrum, Louise Fitzroy-Stone and Rosemary Brown from Rowlands Castle Golf Club, and Pene Salter from Petersfield.

In the Doris Must Cup Lesley Davies finished in first place with a net score of 73, Lesley Eaton finished in second place with a net score of 74, and Brenda Vangrove finished in third place with a net score of 75.

In the Lily Grosvenor Rose Bowl Chris Sewell finished in first place with a net score of 76, Frances Nickell finished in second place with a net score of 78, and Helen Evans-Jones finished in third place with a net score of 78.
