Petersfield 5 Chichester III 4: PETERSFIELD’S first team came up against a strong Chichester third team who had won the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Petersfield applied pressure in the opening minutes on the Chichester back four.

A swift counter attack from Petersfield gave the home side the lead in the first ten minutes after a well worked goal between forwards Edwards and Harris.

Chichester responded and equalised with a well struck penalty corner strike into the bottom corner.

Petersfield went on the attack and a superb strike by J Atkinson from an acute angle gave the hosts the lead for a second time.

Chichester bounced back and equalised again from a well-executed penalty corner routine which tied the teams at 2-2 at the half time break.

Petersfield started very well in the second period and regained the lead when Harris’ reverse shot was stopped on the line illegally by a Chichester defender. Harris was awarded a penalty flick, which he dispatched low to the keeper’s right-hand side.

Petersfield extended their lead when Martin and Bacon combined in midfield to set up Edwards, who got himself on the scoresheet.

Chichester’s keeper then brought down a Petersfield forward, leading to a second penalty flick of the game which Harris scored to complete his hat-trick.

Chichester scored a third goal from a penalty corner and scored a fourth goal with a well-struck shot which was deflected, but Petersfield managed to hold on and earn the three points.
