Waterside Ladies 0 Petersfield Ladies 6: PETERSFIELD Ladies’ first team were keen to start the new season with a victory.

The team made their intentions known and went on the attack from the starting whistle. This intense pressure paid off when Hedges collected the ball on her reverse stick and slammed it into the goal in the first 15 minutes. Hedges’ goal was followed by goals from Sinclair and Powell, who both scored from tight angles on the back line. Just before half time Hedges went on the attack inside the Waterside circle. She out skilled the defenders and raised the ball over the keeper to score Petersfield’s fourth goal of the half.

In the second half Waterside came out in a different formation and started to counter attack. Waterside had a number of shots on the Petersfield goal, but these were clear away by keeper May. Petersfield then took a hold on the game and went back on the attack. Simmons collected the ball from a clearance by the Waterside goalie and slipped it into the goal. In the last 15 minutes of the game Hedges completed her hat-trick to make it 6-0 to Petersfield.
