Alton under-14 Boys 0 Petersfield under-14 Boys 12: AFTER five defeats out of five in the league this season, Petersfield under-14 Boys ruthlessly despatched Alton, scoring ten goals in the first half alone.
The early play took place almost exclusively in the home team’s half.
Elliot White scored the opener with a rising reverse stick strike before Sam Gibbon was rewarded for some impressive running on the right wing by slotting in the second. Ben Hegan and Alexander Young then took control, with a hat-trick from Hegan broken up by a brace from Young.
Petersfield showed the benefit of passing round the defence rather than trying to run through them, with some good interchanges between Hegan, Josh Bardoe, Max White and Eddie Giles.
The returning Alex Hulme added real pace to the attack and grabbed a goal to make it eight.
Hegan crunched in his fourth before Young claimed his hat-trick moments before half time with a deft touch through the keeper’s legs. The second half inevitably didn’t live up to the first despite an early goal from Hulme.
The defence of Charlie Weller, Jacob Rump, Finlay Rushin and Louis Anderson had their quietest game of the season but responded with well-timed tackles and blocks when they were called into action.
Anderson was sent forward for the last quarter and scored his first goal for Petersfield, slotting through the keeper’s legs in the final minute to make it 12-0.
