RALLY fans in East Hampshire won’t have to travel far this weekend to get a taste of their favourite sport.

Aldershot plays host to the annual JLT Tempest Rally with around 100 of the country’s leading rally teams taking part in the event which sees high speed tests around Rushmoor Arena, and the forest tracks of Pavilion and Warren Heath.

In addition to a range of world rally cars, there will be crews from the Armed Forces Rally team offering an action-packed day of motorsport entertainment.

The cars begin from Rushmoor Arena on Saturday morning with the venue also hosting the service area which offers a great opportunity to see the cars being worked on during the day.

The rally is split into two categories – one for two-wheel drive cars and the second for the more powerful four-wheel drive vehicles.

The two-wheel drive cars start in Rushmoor Arena just after 9am with the four-wheel drive cars making their first visit to this stage at 12.30pm. At the head of the Tempest4 field will be last year’s winners Robert Swann and Darren Garrod, who will be in a Ford Fiesta R5.

Leading the two-wheel drive rally away will be David Harris and Rupert Barker in a Ford Escort.
