PETERSFIELD Hockey Club’s ladies’ second team crashed to a 4-0 defeat at Aldershot and Farnham Ladies’ fourth team on Saturday.
The first half was fairly even and Petersfield defended a couple of short corners well before the home side took the lead after 15 minutes.
The visitors responded well to the setback and stretched their opposition with a couple of good runs from Walton and Choularton to get into the Aldershot and Farnham D.
The home side then went on the attack in the Petersfield D, but good defending from Head, Amesbury and Arthur ensured no more goals were scored in the first half and the score remained 1-0 at half time.
The game continued to be evenly matched after the break, although the hosts grew stronger as the game wore on thanks to their substitutes.
Aldershot and Farnham doubled their lead 20 minutes into the second half with a deflection on the right-hand side past the Petersfield keeper.
With only five minutes to play and the game becoming stretched, Aldershot and Farnham had a few close shots at goal which were saved. The third goal came courtesy of a shot between Arthur’s legs.
The press from Aldershot and Farnham was strong, and no more opportunities opened up for Petersfield.
Northmore played well on the right-hand side for Petersfield, with good running to trouble the home team.
The hosts scored their fourth goal just before full time with a strong shot at goal from just inside the D.
