THE 266TH running of Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun on Saturday saw 114 people run, jog and walk the course.
Twenty-five were first timers, 38 recorded new personal bests and representatives of 24 different running clubs took part.
The first runner home was James Hughes from Fareham Crusaders, who finished in an impressive time of 17min 59secs.
The first female finisher, Emily Hutchinson, finished in third place overall and set a new female course record. Her time of 19min 40secs broke Fay Cripps’ previous record of 20min 13secs. Hutchinson’s time also set the best age grade score of the day of 75.25 per cent.
The first junior runner home was Ben Coles, who finished in 14th place overall in a time of 22min 0secs.
Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun celebrated is fifth anniversary on Saturday. Since the first event on May 18, 2013, 4,575 different runners have recorded 20,751 runs between them.
Event director Marie Appleton married her fiance Martin Wiles on Saturday, and run director Phil Henderson arrived dressed as a vicar and conducted his pre-run briefing in the style of a wedding service.
The event was made possible by 14 volunteers who helped out on the day – they were Don Esslemont, David Deane, Melanie Hunt, Phil Henderson, Ivor McQuaid, Kevin McTaggart, Meranda Winter, Nicholas Woodroof, Duncan Johnstone, Jack Bartram, Beverley Tune, Pippa White, Tanya Roberts and John Roberts.
