Petersfield under-13s 45 Ellingham & Ringwood under-13s 10: THE UNBEATEN Petersfield under-13s hosted Ellingham and Ringwood in a thrilling Hampshire Cup game.

Field kicked off, immediately securing ball at the ruck with some good work by Perry and Barwick. The ball was spun wide and Houston scored a wonderful team try in the corner.

This was rapidly followed by another well-crafted try. However, Petersfield promptly fell asleep and rather than building on their good start they let Ellingham and Ringwood back into the game, gifting them two scores in quick succession to level the match.

Field regained control of the match and Houston scored a solo try to put the home side back into the lead at half time.

Now back in their stride, Field were impressive in all aspects of the game in the second half. With good passing, rucking and pressure, Owsnett conjured up a fine try under the posts. This was swiftly followed by a Barwick try.

The now healthy lead allowed Field to play with more freedom, leading to another score by Houston; running straight through the defence to claim his hat-trick.

Late on some fine play by Davis and a pass to the wing put F Kelson in in the corner. The dying minutes saw Davis score his hat-trick and complete the rout.

Next the under-13s face a big challenge against Andover in the quarter finals.
