ALTON and District Swimming Club’s Lottie Jackson took part in the National County Team Championships.

The National County Team Championships is an annual swim event, taking place at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge.

More than 1,200 swimmers from 37 counties competed, with races going on in two pools at the same time.

The National County Team Championships has hosted future Olympians in the past, with previous participants including Adam Peaty, Siobhan Marie O’Connor, Ben Proud, James Guy, Fran Halsall and Liam Tancock.

Selection is by invitation only, and each county select their best swimmers to the event.

Jackson (12), is currently the under-14 Hampshire County Champion for 100m butterfly and 200m butterfly.

At Sheffield’s Ponds Forge she competed in the individual event for the 100m butterfly and in the 4x50m medley relay on the butterfly leg.

Hampshire finished sixth overall in their division and Jackson swam a short course personal best for her 100m butterfly of 1min, 10.87secs.

Jackson said: “The atmosphere was just amazing. I was really proud to be part of the team.”

Jackson, a pupil at Churcher’s College, Petersfield, swims for Alton and District Swimming Club in their competitive top squad.

She has been swimming with the club since she was six years old and now trains two hours a day, six days a week.
