The finals day took place in initially marginal conditions, before brightening up later in the day.
There was a good attendance on the day and lots of good tennis was played.
In the ladies’ doubles final, Sarah Ditcham and Kirsty Thomas were victorious as they came from a set down to beat Liz Hartley and Lucy Spooner 4-6, 6-4, 7-6.
The match of the day was the men’s doubles final, which ended up being the longest event.
Hew Fanshawe and Max Jones came out on top, as they beat James Harwood and Rob Godmon in three sets, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
The ladies’ singles final was a very tight match, which ended up with new member and former Liss player Jenny Masso beating Hartley with a scoreline of 7-5, 6-3 to win the title. Godmon won his seventh mixed doubles title with Lucy Cousins, as the pair beat Emily Wallis and Ollie Davenport in straight sets of 6-2, 6-3.
“I’m over the moon with our victory,” said Godmon.
“This competition is always tough, so to win it for a seventh time, I’m just delighted for Lucy and myself.”
Jones won the men’s singles final in straight sets, as he swept aside Godmon with a 6-3 and 6-0. Jones had lost the first two games of the match, but he recovered well and finished the day with the men’s singles and men’s doubles titles.
