TWO PETERSFIELD Triathlon Club members represented Great Britain at the European Age Group Sprint Triathlon Championships, which were held at Strathclyde Country Park near Glasgow.

Josh Lahiri, in his first time racing at international level, was in the very competitive men’s 25-29 age group.

Josh said: “The swim was brutal but I came out near the front, the hilly technical bike course went really well and I made progress through the pack before holding on in the run.

“Overall it was an incredible experience and I’m over the moon with 23rd in the 25-29 age group in Europe.”

This was Julie Gadsden’s second time in the women’s 65-69 team, having represented Great Britain at the World Championships in 2017.

Julie said: “For me the swim was the best part as I maintained my position in the middle of the pack all the way round the 750m course.

“The bike course was tough, either battling up the hills or focussing on the fairly technical descents.

“Having put a lot of effort into the bike, the 5km run took its toll and it was just a matter of putting one foot in front of the other until the finish line.

“It felt a lot harder than last year’s World Championships race in Rotterdam, so I was pleased with my 14th placing in the age group.”

Julie has already qualified for the 2019 World Championships, which will be held in Lausanne.
