A 12-year-old golfer at Liphook Golf Club has a promising future in the game after breaking the club’s record from the yellow tees.
Leo Camping only took up golf 11 months ago but has quickly got into the swing of the sport and is hoping to continue his rapid progress in the game.
He managed to score 55 points in junior stableford competition at the club. The world record score is 59.
His score breaks the men’s record score from the yellow tees at Liphook and he now proudly sits on the club’s home page for what will probably be quite some time.
When asked what made the difference to his round, Leo said: “A new five wood.”
The five wood was recommended by Miles in the club’s pro shop.
Miles said: “Having spent considerable time together in the acute stages of Leo’s golfing journey, and having only taken the game up in the spring of 2023, I am extremely proud of Leo and have no doubt in my mind that if he continues with the same enthusiasm and commitment for the game, he will go a long way in golf.
“I am very excited for the future of Leo’s golf.”
Leo wants to play every afternoon going forward and is serious about progressing in the game.
Leo’s dad, Bob Camping, said: “He has basically gone golf mad, and is even bringing out a golf ball brand.”
