ESME Smith and her gymnastics partner Daniel Rose, both from Liss, have finished in fifth place in the National Development Plan (NDP) national acrobatic finals in Stoke-on-Trent.

Esme and Daniel had already come through the southern regional preliminaries in Southampton in March to earn their place at the national finals in Stoke-on-Trent, where they produced an impressive performance.

This year was Esme and Daniel’s first year competing together in the national programme, and the next cycle will start again in October and finish with the national finals in May 2018.

Esme, who goes to Greatham Primary School, and Daniel, who is a pupil at Dunhurst, both train at the Portsmouth Gymnastics Centre, and the club are preparing to take a pair and a trio to the British Championships in Liverpool in July.
