THE 272ND running of Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun on Saturday saw 100 people run, jog and walk the course.

Twenty-one were first timers, 11 recorded new personal bests and representatives of 27 running clubs took part.

The first finisher this week was Alastair McGeoch-Williams from 26.2 Road Runners Club, who crossed the line in 18min 15secs. McGeoch-Williams also set the day’s best age grade rating of 71.87 per cent running in the SM30-34 age category.

The first female runner home was Roza Kokuti from Vegan Runners, who finished in ninth place overall in a time of 22min 12secs.

The leading junior runner this week was Samuel Stagg, who set a new personal best time of 22min 13secs to finish in tenth place overall.

Two Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun regulars, Jane Nockemann and Jonathan Court, completed their 100th Parkruns.

The event was made possible by 13 volunteers who helped out on the day – they were Isabel Gardner, Alexander Cole, Jes Dickin, Jenny Dickin, Daniel Phoenix, Penny Johnstone, Julia Revill, Jack Bartram, Lisa Darrand, Tanya Roberts, Wendy Cooper, John Roberts and Ian Kitchen.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park Parkrun takes place at the park next to the A3 every Saturday at 9am.
