A MOTOCROSS team with strong links to Petersfield has celebrated its first major race victory.

Cab Screens Deos Group Racing competes in the Maxxis British Motocross Championship and the Michelin MX Nationals British Championship.

Brothers Lee and Ian Webber, who grew up in Petersfield, started the team in 2012. Team manager Lee lives in Denmead, and chief technician Simon Marden is based in East Meon. Ian is the team’s press officer.

The team celebrated its first success when rider Harri Kullas won the first round of this year’s Michelin MX Nationals British Championship in Sherwood.

Dan Thornhill is the team’s other rider.

Ian said: “Harri has ridden at a lot of world championship events and been successful, and we brought him in this year to challenge for podium finishes.

“Dan has proved himself at youth level and is getting better and better. He’s been with us for a few years and he’s progressing every year.

“Getting that first win as a team at Sherwood was huge. It’s been a long time coming and a lot of people have put a lot of effot in.

“Simon and Lee really put the hours in getting the bikes ready for racing.”

Cab Screens Deos Group also competed in the Motocross British Grand Prix at Matterley Basin, near Winchester, at the weekend and Kullas finished in the top 20 in both races.
