A MOTOCROSS team with strong links to Petersfield has enjoyed a superb season.

Cab Screens Deos Group Racing competes in the British Motocross Championship and the Michelin MX Nationals British Championship. Brothers Lee and Ian Webber, who grew up in Petersfield, started the team in 2012. Team manager Lee lives in Denmead, and Ian is the team’s press officer.

The team’s rider Harri Kullas clinched the Michelin MX Nationals British Championship, and finished in fourth place in the British Motocross Championship.

Ian said: “It’s been a really positive year. Harri had a few injuries but he rode through the pain and ended the season really well.

“It’s the team’s first series championship win and it’s Harri’s first win.

“We’re one of the smallest teams and it’s all self-funded and sponsor funded.

“We have to work hard for our money and sponsors.”

At the weekend Harri finished in fourth place in his class at the Motocross of Nations in Assen, the Netherlands.

Harri was representing Team Estonia, although he was using the same Cab Screens Deos Group Racing bike, and had all the usual support from the team.

Ian said: “Thirty-four countries took part and put forward their best three riders. Harri finished fourth in his class, which was a fantastic result. Team Estonia also finished fourth, which was their best ever result.

“We’re a little team from Hampshire and we’ve gone up against the best grand prix teams in the world and held our own.”
