THE EAST Hampshire Sports Awards 2016 will be held at the Old Thorns Manor Hotel in Liphook tomorrow (Thursday) evening.

The ceremony will be held in the newly built Gatsby Room, starting at 6.15pm and finishing at approximately 9.30pm.

The event will recognise the sporting achievements of East Hampshire residents in 2015 and the winners will go on to represent the area as nominees for the Hampshire Sports Awards.

Guest speaker for the evening will be one of Great Britain’s most successful athletes, Roger Black.

The sporting legend will be giving a motivational speech and answering questions at the event.

The event will be hosted by ITV’s Fred Dinenage.

The East Hampshire District Sports Awards recognise sportsmen and women at every level, and the coaches, officials and volunteers who work behind the scenes to help athletes and clubs succeed.

East Hampshire District Council co-ordinate the awards, and winners will be announced in the following categories: junior sportsman and junior sportswoman, senior sportsman and senior sportswoman, masters sportsman and sportswoman, junior disability sportsperson, senior disability sportsperson, coach of the year (male or female), volunteer of the year (junior and senior), school team of the year, team of the year (junior and senior), official (male or female), service to sport (male or female), club of the year, and outstanding personal achievement.
