THE SPORTS Locker Petersfield Heath 5km run for the Stroke Association was held on Saturday.
The event was organised by the Runnyhoneys, which now numbers 160 members.
Eighty-five runners entered and there was a range of abilities and ages.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, with many attempting a 5km run for the first time or having a good reason to support the Stroke Association.
The first three men all registered times below 20 minutes, and they were closely followed by the first woman.
The children’s category was split by age this year for the first time with under-16 (senior) and under-12 (Junior) categories.
It was third time lucky for Tristan Jooste, who won the junior children’s race in a time of just over 22 minutes.
The Stroke Association representatives attended and helped to create a party atmosphere with an assortment of balloons, purple wigs and tutus. All of the £1,010 proceeds were donated to the Stroke Association and were split between the national charity and the Petersfield group.
The top three runners in each category were: men’s race: 1. Harrison Notter 19min:20sec, 2. Andrew Pirie 19:32, 3. Graham Wright 19:46; women’s race: 1. Rachel Clay 20min:29sec, 2. Slaney Hopkins 23:02, 3. Sabina Tavinor 24:22; junior children’s race: 1. Tristan Jooste 22min:28sec, 2. Jake Cleasby 23:13, 3. Evan Parsons 25:16; senior children’s race: 1. Jasper Browne 22min:08sec, 2. Amy Browne 26:11, 3. Jessica Nesbitt 26:49.
