Petersfield & Haslemere Ne’er-Do-Wells 1 Havant Veterans 2: PETERSFIELD Ne’er-Do-Wells made their league debut against local rivals Havant.

The purpose of this Petersfield and Haslemere team is to encourage players to return to veteran hockey, and on this basis this match was a big success with 14 players turning out on a sunny afternoon at Haslemere and the match was played in great spirit.

Although the Ne’er-Do-Wells controlled a great deal of the play and possession, Havant had the know-how, and used this to score from two set-play short corners.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells continued to press throughout and pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, but overall they were not able to test the Havant goalkeeper sufficiently until the last knockings of the game.

There were good performances from Mathew Davis, Simon Atherton, Gavin Marshall and Ian McAllister and Nick Lawson, and a promising debut for Ed Roberts.
