Petersfield & Haslemere Ne’er-Do-Wells 1 Bournemouth Veterans II 0: PETERSFIELD and Haslemere Ne’er-Do-Wells finished their season with a win against Bournemouth Veterans’ second team.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells concentrated on getting their defence right, playing a half court press, combined with a packed central midfield. Bournemouth mostly attacked down the middle and only achieved half a dozen circle penetrations against a tight defence.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells had the mobility to threaten, and there were strong midfield performances from Graham Vosper, Adrian Potter and Roberto Casabianca, and a strong defensive line overseen by Robin Mitchell and Steve Berry.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells had dynamism in the forwards with good combinations between Ali Wheeler and Tony Gordon, and the only goal of the game was scored by Wheeler after some excellent short passing.

This is the second year of the Ne’er-Do-Wells’ existence, with a remit of bringing players back to veterans’ hockey and having fun, and the team finished in mid-table after winning four of their last six matches.
