Havant Veterans II 2 Petersfield & Haslemere Ne’er-Do-Wells 1: PETERSFIELD and Haslemere Ne’er-Do-Wells’ two match winning run came to an end against Havant Veterans’ second team.

The visitors set up in their standard defensive formation, but were caught cold by an early short corner strike.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells slowly clawed their way back into the game, although Havant continued to create chances.

The visitors’ defence struggled to get near Havant and the visitors were indebted to keeper Alex Burns for some impressive saves.

Havant made their pressure pay early in the second half though when they doubled their lead.

The Ne’er-Do-Wells kept on fighting, and Julian Dean chased down a ball on the bye line and won the resulting battle for it, only to see his shot saved by the Havant keeper.

Ali Wheeler was on hand to sweep in the rebound from close range and pull a goal back for the Ne’er-Do-Wells.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but Havant’s experience prevailed as the home side took the ball into the corner and kept it there to run the clock down.
