Yateley 1 Petersfield 2: PETERSFIELD were looking to get their year up and running with a win at Yateley on Saturday.

The game started at a fast pace and early penalty corners were given away for stick tackles. Yateley failed to convert their penalty corner but Petersfield scored from theirs when Clay’s strike was deflected in by Atkinson.

Terry and Gray controlled the middle of the pitch, with back-up from Grinstead, and Petersfield remained on top with some direct play and plenty of possession.

Yateley kept grinding away and were rewarded with an equaliser as the sides went in on level terms at 1-1 at half time.

Yateley piled on the pressure at the start of the second half with four penalty corners and a penalty flick.

Petersfield responded well, though, and produced some good combinations of patient passing play. The midfield combined nicely and Gray finished off a well-worked goal.

Yateley pushed for an equaliser, but Petersfield worked hard to keep the hosts at bay.

Three penalty corners were awarded to Yateley in the last moments of the game, but Petersfield remained resolute and held on for the win.
