Petersfield 1 Basingstoke II 5: PETERSFIELD welcomed Basingstoke’s second team on Saturday and were hoping to replicate the victory they achieved at Basingstoke in the first half of the season.

Both teams began well, creating chances, breaking down play and switching play effectively. Basingstoke were the first to break the deadlock, and they added a second before half time.

The two-goal deficit rattled the Petersfield team, but the home side responded well after half time and looked like they could turn the game back in their favour.

Petersfield pressed hard after the break and tested the Basingstoke keeper a number of times, yet the visitors kept Petersfield at bay.

Petersfield scored through a penalty corner routine from Harris, before Basingstoke added a third goal to make it 3-1.

As passions rose among the Petersfield side, so did the amount of fouls from both sides.

Petersfield paid the ultimate price as Basingstoke capatilised on an overload advantage, scoring a further two goals to seal their 5-1 victory.

Petersfield will hope to return to winning ways when they travel away to Yateley on Saturday.
