PETERSFIELD racer Jamie Hopkins competed in rounds 18 to 20 of the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup, as part of the British Touring Car Championship Support Package around the famous Silverstone National circuit in Northamptonshire, for Elite Motorsport.
On September 28, Hopkins qualified for the Ginetta in 19th place on the grid with a time of 1min 02secs and an average speed of 95mph.
Two of that weekend’s three races were also held on the Saturday, September 28.
As the lights went green for the first race Hopkins got a reasonable start and was running in 17th place by the end of lap two.
Hopkins remained in 17th place until lap nine when he moved up into 16th place, and he remained in 16th place until the chequered flag after 16 laps.
In the second race Hopkins started from 17th place on the grid.
As racing got under way Hopkins dropped a place, but he regained his place on lap five and remained in 17th place for the remainder of the 25-lap race.
On September 29, the final race of the three took place, with Hopkins again starting from 17th place on the grid.
By the end of lap one Hopkins had progressed up into 14th place.
From lap two onwards Hopkins started to slip back down through the field.
By lap seven Hopkins had slipped back to 17th place, where he remained until the chequered flag.
Hopkins will be in action again on Saturday and Sunday for the final rounds around the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in Kent.
