Petersfield 3 Southampton 3: PETERSFIELD hosted Southampton at Bedales.

Southampton begun the game the better of the two sides. The visitors created a handful of chances and scored one to take the lead.

Petersfield demonstrated glimpses of what they were capable of with a couple of counter attacks, and the home side’s efforts were rewarded when Harris scored to make it 1-1 at half time.

The home side created a number of attacks after the break, but they were denied by Southampton.

The visitors then won a penalty corner, which was converted to make it 2-1 to Southampton.

Petersfield dug deep and pulled the score back to 2-2 with a goal from J Atkinson moments after Petersfield goalkeeper Smith had denied Southampton with a diving stick save.

The hosts then took control, claiming possession and creating chances.

Harris converted from close range for Petersfield’s third goal after an advantage was given after fouls made by Southampton as the hosts entered the circle.

The visitors responded well and pushed hard for an equaliser.

While Petersfield defended well, a loose foot was found inside the circle.

The penalty corner was saved by Smith, yet the clearance was picked was up by a Southampton forward who flicked the ball into the net to make it 3-3.

Petersfield travel away to Southampton University this Saturday, where they will be hoping to return to winning ways.
