Petersfield 4 Salisbury 7: PETERSFIELD were hoping to return to winning ways as they hosted Salisbury.
The visitors came flying out of the blocks, applying vast amounts of pressure to the whole Petersfield side.
Petersfield were undone early on, but the home side remained resilient and equalised within minutes after a penalty corner deflection from midfielder Terry.
Salisbury pressed on, playing at a fast speed and forcing mistakes from the Petersfield team which saw the visitors increase their lead to 3-1 at half time after waves of attack.
Petersfield began the second half impressively. The home side played at a higher tempo, preventing time on the ball for the opposition and increasing their passing accuracy.
Petersfield pulled it back to 3-2 with a calm finish by Atkinson, before Salisbury regained their two-goal lead.
Petersfield increased their work rate and the goals flew in at both ends as both teams counter-attacked effectively. Edney and Atkinson scored for Petersfield as the visitors led 5-4.
Petersfield were denied a potential match-saving chance when a foul was given against the home side.
Salisbury then pulled clear of their hosts and went 6-4 ahead after a quick passing combination.
The visitors scored another goal late on to conclude the scoring at 7-4.
Petersfield will be hoping to bounce back when they travel away to a lowly Romsey side in their final fixture before the Christmas break on Saturday (2.15pm).
