PETERSFIELD gymnasts Felix Coomber and Anna Bridge travelled to the 21st Attila Pinter Memorial International Youth Cup in Innsbruck, Austria, and beat members of four national squads to bring home individual gold and silver.

The competition is an internationally recognised competition that uses International Federation of Gymnastics (FIG) scores and regulations, the same that are used in the Commonwealth and Olympic Games.

Felix and Anna competed as part of a team representing Portsmouth Gymnastics Club (PGC). PGC impressed the international judges to gain the silver medal in the team competition, only being beaten by the Austrian national squad.

Felix competed on six pieces of apparatus in the under 14 men’s category and won gold all-around, having achieved gold on vault, and silver on pommel, floor and bars. Anna competed on four pieces of apparatus in the under-15 women’s category and won silver overall, gold on beam and silver on bars.

Currently, Felix and Anna are both regional champions in the south of England.

They started gymnastics when they were five years old and now train for more than 20 hours a week. They have been members of PGC for two years, winning many county, regional and national medals between them.

Felix’s next goal is competing in the upcoming national FIG voluntaries. Anna, who is supported by East Hampshire District Council’s Elite Sports Fund, is preparing to defend her title as national champion in the national development plan grades this month.
