Petersfield 1 Gosport 2: PETERSFIELD hosted Gosport and slipped to defeat in a close match that could have gone either way.

Petersfield had an array of chances throughout the first half which were either narrowly missed or saved by the Gosport goalkeeper. Gosport were clinical in the circle and took a 1-0 lead into half time.

Gosport’s frustration grew in the second half and their players soon found themselves spending time in the sinbin area. Petersfield continued to play their style of hockey and found themselves level after Edwards deflected the ball into the net.

The visitors were awarded a penalty flick after their initial strike deflected off the goalkeeper into Grinstead’s jaw on the goal line, but Gosport missed the target.

Petersfield went on the attack but the visitors capitalised on the counter attack and scored a winner.
