Fareham IV 0 Petersfield 6: PETERSFIELD faced Fareham’s fourth team on a wet and windy afternoon.

Field dominated the play for the first 15 minutes. The efforts from the team were rewarded after Harris’ reverse strike flew into the top corner. Field continued to press, beating the opposition to loose balls and shutting down any form of attack. The hard work from Field was rewarded with another goal from Edwards. Fareham then began to take more control of the ball, but they were unable to pull a goal back before the break.

Petersfield slotted a further four goals past Fareham in the second half. Cains picked up his first hat-trick of the season and Edwards grabbed a second. The defence commanded from the back and prevented any shots on target until the last two minutes of the game, when Fareham won a string of penalty corners which were well defended. Petersfield’s 6-0 win left them in second place in the table, and they are now three points clear of third place.

Petersfield face the league leaders, Basingstoke’s second team, on Saturday at Bedales School.
