Petersfield 7 Bournemouth III 2: PETERSFIELD welcomed Bournemouth’s third team on Saturday afternoon.
Petersfield fielded a strong side in a bid to claim three points against a Bournemouth side who beat them in the first half of the season.
The hosts started the fixture in explosive fashion and scored two goals from a Harris penalty corner drag flick and an open field deflection.
Bacon then added his name to the scoresheet with a deflected goal from Martin’s through ball into the circle to make it 3-0.
The visitors managed to pinch a goal back, which made the score 3-1 to Petersfield at half time.
The second half started like the first half had, and Petersfield scored early on when Grinstead found forward Hughes-Stanton, who extended the score to 4-1 after slipping the ball past the oncoming keeper.
Martin then scored in an open net after Edwards’ shot on goal was deflected.
Bournemouth then converted a penalty corner, taking the score to 5-2.
Petersfield added a further two goals, the first of which came when Edwards scored in open play.
J Atkinson then made it 7-2 when he thumped the ball out of reach of the keeper and into the far corner.
The hosts were reduced to ten men when T Clay was sent to the sin-bin for a poor tackle, but Petersfield claimed the three points with an emphatic victory and jump up to fourth spot in the Hampshire Division 2 table.
