Waterside Ladies 1 Petersfield Ladies 2: PETERSFIELD Ladies played away at Waterside Ladies in Southampton on Saturday.

Petersfield quickly put their opposition under pressure and were granted a short corner when Day hit a foot in the D. Day injected to S Bardoe, who returned it for Day to slap across the base line to O’Kelly, who tucked it between the keeper’s legs to open the scoring.

Petersfield continued to press their opposition, and Waterside tried a through ball which was intercepted by Easton. Easton dribbled wide up the right wing and Waterside’s defence were drawn out. Easton crossed the ball to O’Kelly. A quick slip right by O’Kelly beat her defender, and a cheeky nutmeg of the keeper secured Petersfield’s second goal going into half time.

Waterside upped their intensity in the second half, and asked more questions of Jones in the Petersfield goal.

J Bardoe won Petersfield a short corner which came to nothing, and Waterside took a quick 16-yard hit and rushed up the left of the pitch. Waterside drew Petersfield’s defence and keeper wide and a quick ball across goal was picked up by a forward on the post, who scored to make it 2-1 with 15 minutes to go.

The game ended with another attacking short corner for Petersfield, although the visitors were unable to add to their tally as the ball just missed the stick of Leach by the right-hand post.

Petersfield Ladies will host New Forest Ladies’ second team at Dunhurst School on Saturday (1.15pm).
