Aldershot & Farnham Ladies II 4 Petersfield Ladies 1: THERE was an air of tension surrounding this game as second-placed Petersfield faced league leaders Aldershot and Farnham, who are unbeaten so far this season.
The first quarter of the game was tense, with both team attacking and both defences working overtime to stop the opposition scoring.
Aldershot and Farnham went on the offensive and their striker weaved left and right and hit the ball into the goal.
The hosts were fired up and pressed Petersfield. Petersfield’s defence absorbed this pressure and cleared the ball high up the right side of the pitch to Sinclair.
Sinclair collected the ball on the right wing, dribbled to the back line and swept the ball to the middle of the D where Hedges was waiting, and Hedges calmly deflected the ball over the keeper.
Petersfield were found wanting just before the break and Aldershot and Farnham scored two goals in quick succession to lead 3-1 at half time.
Aldershot and Farnham scored their fourth goal in the first ten minutes of the second half, and Petersfield were unable to come back.
