Petersfield Ladies 3 United Services Portsmouth Ladies 1: PETERSFIELD Ladies hosted United Services Portsmouth Ladies on Sunday in a re-arranged match.
Petersfield lost 2-1 in the reverse league fixture at Burnaby Road two weeks ago.
The home side won the coin toss and opted for first push back.
Petersfield took the lead when Jen Sinclair ran the ball in along the baseline and slipped it to Hedges, who slapped it in.
T Llewellyn was glued to the left sideline and kept the play spread wide, offering easy relief to the Petersfield defence when clearing the ball from their D.
Sinclair nutmegged the keeper from just outside the right post before half time to put the home side 2-0 up.
The second half started with the visitors’ push back, which Petersfield almost immediately intercepted and turned over.
The push forward left a gap at the back for the visitors’ speedy right winger and she utilised the extra space and hit the ball just outside the keeper’s outstretched right foot and into the goal.
With the score now 2-1 Petersfield upped their intensity.
After a flurry of long corners in the Romsey defensive 25, Petersfield fed the ball across the D to Hedges, who scored a final goal for the home team to make it 3-1.
The win lifts Petersfield back up the league table to sixth place.
The ladies’ last game of the season is at home to Haslemere at 3pm on Saturday, April 7.
