Petersfield Ladies 1 Waterside Ladies 1: PETERSFIELD Ladies faced Waterside Ladies at home on Saturday.
Petersfield were looking to complete the double over their visitors after winning 2-1 when the sides last faced each other earlier in the season. The visitors started on the front foot and dominated the early stages of the game.
Waterside’s centre forward was particularly crafty at losing her marker in the D and caused a few problems as the midfield looked for the chances to feed the ball through to her.
Petersfield defended well, but after 15 minutes of relentless pressure the home side conceded a penalty flick when the ball was stopped on the line by a defender’s foot.
Keeper Jones went the right way but the flick went in to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at half time.
The hosts upped their intensity in the second half and pushed Waterside back.
Building from the back, play was transferred around the pitch with Presnell offering a pivot position behind the attacking line.
Some strong runs from Day down the left wing, supported by Todd, relayed the ball up the wing to O’Kelly.
An unsuccessful shot on goal was deflected out of the side of the D to Beaton, who dribbled the ball past defenders and smashed a shot into the right-hand corner of the goal.
Petersfield continued to press as they searched for a winning goal, but the home side were unable to convert any further chances and had to settle for a 1-1 draw.
