PETERSFIELD Ladies fell to a second successive defeat on Saturday, as they lost 2-0 at Andover Ladies’ second team.
Late injuries resulted in only ten Petersfield players making it to the pitch.
Andover won the coin toss and opted for first push back.
The home side won a number of short corners early on.
With O’Kelly in goal and Sebastian-Todd running out, Andover had a hard task ahead of them breaking down the Petersfield defence.
The visitors were able to withstand the waves of attack with key tackles from Llewelyn, but they struggled to make breaks of their own.
Andover finally converted a short corner to take the lead.
Injecting it straight to the top of the D for their junior player, she took a straight strike and lifted it just off the floor as the ball powered over O’Kelly’s outstretched kicker.
Following the re-start Petersfield regrouped, and despite continued pressure from the Andover forwards they were able to make attacking runs into the Andover D before the half-time break.
Petersfield almost got back on level terms in the second half when Easton hit the ball towards the back post, but the ball was cleared off the baseline and the visiting forwards were unable to get a clear connection for a deflection.
Petersfield created another chance when O’Kelly hit the ball on her reverse stick, but it glanced the side of the post.
Andover quickly made a break towards the Petersfield D, and a well-timed cross found a free forward. Keeper O’Kelly dived on her right-hand side and managed to clip the ball with her stick, but the contact was only enough to deflect the ball and not stop it.
The visitors were unable to get back into the game, and they will hope to return to winning ways when they entertain United Services Portsmouth on Saturday.
